Overview:The HR Generalist provides hands on support to our Health enthusiasts, Operations Managers, and HR Business Partners. The role is critical in executing our people initiatives, providing great internal customer support, and driving HR functional excellence and process improvement.Responsibilities:Business Partnership:Produce and analyze reports to identify talent trends including being able to find ways to measure effectiveness of initiatives and programs developed by the team.Monitor walk-in applicant activity and serve as first point of contact for Distribution Center applicants and temporary agenciesSupport hiring efforts through interviewing, presenting offers, scheduling onboarding, and facilitating the training/orientation process.Support employees and managers with routine, day-to-day HR questions, needs, and inquiries, providing service and ensuring you guide them to the right resource to ensure a quality and timely response.Address employee concerns in a timely and effective manner using solid judgement and decision making. Partner with the HR Business Partners as needed to appropriately address concerns, ensuring follow through of resolution and closeout.Assist with investigations of a variety of employee-related issues, incidents, and complaints; resolve disputes and recommend appropriate/remedial actions.Support favorable engagement of the Distribution Center employees. Promote positive employee relations through identifying trends, evaluating data and anecdotes, and leveraging employee feedback through The Vitamin Shoppe created engagement mechanisms.Establish relationships and work effectively with CSC Business Partners to assess and recommend solutions, improvements, or enhancements.Coordinate unemployment appeals as well as participate in state specific unemployment hearingsAssist HR Business Partners in providing leadership development support to onsite Operations leaders, inclusive of Human Resources training for new leaders.Assist and lead The Vitamin Shoppe's performance recognition/management process.Assist with full cycle rollouts for new HR compliance initiatives.Assist in the development and sharing of key messages for purposes of communicating DC HR related initiatives and activities. This includes updates to communication boards and other communication vehicles in a timely manner.Perform detail-oriented work with numbers to track, capture, enter and report numeric information in databases and spreadsheets. Organize large amounts of incoming documents and information. Create filing and tracking systems to keep historical information related to DC HR and OperationsCoordinate HR related activities as necessaryCoordinate other HR related processes as designatedAdministrative and Systems:Utilize HRIS systems for data entry, modification, and reporting. Auditing to ensure our data is right.Generate accountability reports on a daily or as needed basis regarding attendance; coordinate with managers to ensure timely delivery of corrective action documents.Assist managers in responding to employee questions on accruals, benefits, accommodations, LOA, etc.Assist with documentation and reporting of other leave programs including FMLA, Workers Compensation, Personal Leave, etc.Deliver benefits information to employees based on company handbook/policies and procedures; ensure fair, equitable and consistent application of all company policies and procedures.Support employees with annual benefits enrollment tasks and post-enrollment benefit questionsDemonstrate effective analytical skills; leverage data analytics to drive solutions and decisions that translate into actionable plans to drive the business strategy.Generate reports and spreadsheets for DC HR, Operations, and management to prepare for weekly and monthly reviews. Generate, complete and process new hire/termination processesAssist with tracking and reporting work related injuries to insurance company as necessaryCoordinate the activation and deactivation of WMS user ID's and passwordsCoordinate, manage and participate in DC HR and Operations projects.Provide support to the HRBPs and Operations Management Team on projectsEvaluate all project deliverables for content and qualityIdentify roadblocks that may impact deliverable dates and recommend alternative solutionsInform Direct Supervisor of any problems and actively participates in process improvementsThe HR Generalist will deal with highly confidential information daily and must exercise good judgment.Other Functions:Must be self-motivated and proactive about personal learning and developmentPerforms other duties as assignedSupervisory Responsibilities:May supervise others during peak times in the operations.Qualifications:Education/Certification:Associate's degree or equivalent combination of intellectual instruction and work experienceProfessional Certification preferredBachelor's degree preferredRequired Knowledge:Intermediate to advance knowledge of Microsoft Office (ie, Excel, Word, Access, etc.) and other computer applications as required by the positionExperience Required:3-5 years of HR coordinator/administrative experience.Skill and Ability:Ability to read and interpret documents and procedure manualsAbility to write routine reports and correspondenceAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization existAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule formAbility to handle confidential informationAbility to read, write and speak EnglishAbility to learn the layout & operational processes of the Distribution CenterAbility to organize, multi-task, and effectively manage a heavy workload while maintaining attention to detailAbility to use sound judgement for decision makingEqual Opportunity PolicyThe Vitamin Shoppe is an equal opportunity employer.
