You will learn something new every single day.As a Defense Systems Concepts Engineer Your primary responsibility will be to provide systems engineering direction and support to advanced missile defense and multi-domain programs. You will develop operational concepts, construct architectural solutions, analyze requirements, and execute trade studies - all within the context of a digital engineering development process. You will review existing specifications, develop and maintain models, make evidence-based recommendations for improvements, and assess proposed solutions.You will prepare for and participate in technical interchange meetings and major program reviews, providing insight to contractor, government agency, and research laboratory participants. Given the quality of work you will have done leading up to this point, expect to be the one decision makers listen to when key technical questions are asked.You will participate in the evolution of our Sector's Digital Engineering capability. Whether it's fielded equipment that needs new capability or an idea that exists only on a napkin, you will help define the best tools for the job and integrate them into a growing digital engineering ecosystem.QualificationsYou meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you Have a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, physics, or mathematics.Have 3 or more years' experience developing complex technical systems.Have experience with MBSE principles and tools.Are able to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing - and, at the same time, can understand and appreciate what others are saying.Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship.Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. To ensure the safety and well-being of the community, APL has established a policy requiring that all staff be vaccinated against COVID-19.
