Assistant/Associate Professor of Early Childhood and Elementary Education The Department of Early and Elementary Education in the Seidel School of Education is accepting applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Early Childhood and Elementary Education . This is a 10-month, tenure-track faculty position. Primary Job Duties: The Department of Early and Elementary Education seeks a highly qualified assistant / associate professor with a strong background in early childhood or elementary education and the creative arts. This collaborative professional will be skilled at fostering and teach courses that emphasize an interdisciplinary approach to the arts for early childhood or elementary students through music, dance, theatre, and the visual arts. The normal teaching load is three, 4-credit courses per semester. Our prospective colleague will possess positive interpersonal competencies essential to successfully working with students, faculty, staff, and external constituents. The candidate is expected to advise teacher candidates and participate in the Professional Teacher Education Program's (PTEP) partnership with local and regional schools. As a tenure track position, the candidate will be expected to engage in high quality teaching; maintain an active research agenda resulting in peer-reviewed publications and presentations; and participate in service at a variety of levels, including the university, school, and department. Opportunities for clinical supervision, collaborative programs, and international coursework are available. While this position primarily involves the preparation of undergraduate teacher education candidates during the traditional academic year, the opportunity to teach undergraduate and graduate courses during the summer and winter sessions may be available. This candidate will both contribute to and lead department, college, university, national, and international efforts to better understand and improve the creative art experiences of children across diverse populations. Minimum Qualifications: A minimum of 3 years of successful teaching in Grades PK - 8 is required. The candidate must have a terminal degree (eg, Ph.D., Ed.D, or MFA) in Art Education, Creative Arts, Integrated Curriculum, Early Childhood, Elementary Education, or a related field no later than the hire date. If ABD, the terminal degree must be completed before hire date. The successful candidate will have a background in early childhood or elementary education with experience in interdisciplinary creative arts education.
