Duties

The duties and responsibilities for a 0201 Supervisory Human Resources Specialist generally include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Manages the Department's executive and political HR programs, including overall Senior Executive Service and Senior Level allocation management.
  • Develops executive resources policy related to position management and classification, recruitment and staffing, and performance management.
  • Provides executive support and program support to the Executive Resources Boards.
  • Provides expert advice and assistance on a broad range of human resources matters to executives, managers and employees.
  • Completes special projects involving matters of unusual technical difficulty, requiring extensive research, reasoned judgements, and practical recommendations.

  • You may be required to complete a supervisory probation period.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Supervisory Human Resources Specialist at (GS-0201-15), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to.

If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information).

To qualify for the GS-15, you must possessat least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as performing policy or operations work for Senior Executive Service, Senior Level and political positions in at least two of the following areas: position classification, recruitment and staffing, and performance management and providing technical guidance on HR rules, laws, regulations, policies, and procedures related to Senior Executive Service, Senior Level and political positions.

    Due to COVID-19, if selected, you may be expected to telework for an undefined period under the Department's evacuation authority, even if your home is located outside the local commuting area. Employees in this status may be notified of a requirement to report in person to the component workplace with an advance notice of not less than 30 days. Prior to a requirement to report to the workplace, employees may be eligible to request to continue to telework one or more days a pay period depending upon the terms of the component's telework policy.
