Duties
This position is located within the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Accounting Operations Center, Fiscal Services Team, in Herndon, VA.
At the full performance level (GS-11) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Provides daily operational support to team members and assists higher graded financial analysts, accountants and other bureau financial management employees in providing accounting and financial management services to the NPS.
2. Recommends adaptation of established procedures to eliminate problems or improve the operations under study.
3. Analyzes and evaluates financial data to better track and assist NPS management on the efficiency and effectiveness of managing and budgeting of their financial accounts.
4. Reviews and analyzes financial reports generated by the automated system, identifying problems and discrepancies, and determining if adjustments or corrections are required.
5. Participates in the preparation of recurring financial management reports, statements, and supporting justifications by performing problem analysis, ensuring data integrity and consistency, preparing related financial documentation, and adapting financial management procedures to satisfy reporting requirements.
6. Assists Regional and Departmental contacts, and other agencies in resolving financial management issues which may include fielding status calls, answering policy questions, and developing service wide reports.
7. Evaluating financial system software by preparing test scenarios for new releases, enhancements, and existing features of the software, and by conducting actual testing and documenting results
National Park Service has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.
Salary Information
GS-11: ($72,750 - $94,581)
First time hires to the federal government typically start at the beginning salary in the range for their respective grade level.
This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.
This vacancy is also announced as NPS-22-JB-003(MP) for those applicants who wish to apply and be considered under Merit Promotion procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
A. Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-11, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1) utilizing a computer system or an application to create, edit, or adjust financial data; 2) reviewing and analyzing financial data to be used in reconciling vendor accounts and accounts payable invoices; and 3) experience leading and guiding a team of financial specialists in performing financial management related assignments. MUST MEET ALL
OR
B. Education: Completed Ph.D. or equivalent degree or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a doctoral degree.
OR
C. Combination of education and experience: Have a combination of specialized experience and education that equals 100% of the requirement for the GS-11 level.
