Duties

The Health Scientist Administrator (Program Officer) will provide technical leadership and guidance in basic and translational research areas to facilitate our understanding, treatment, and prevention of alcohol-associated organ damage. These positions offer opportunities to develop and lead scientific programs on the cutting-edge of research. Program officers advise the Institute on future scientific directions that encourage research in critical areas, develop targeted programs to foster innovative and high impact research, interact with investigators in diverse scientific areas, assess the progress of awarded grants and contracts, and serve as an expert resource for the scientific community and the public.

Candidates with a background in basic biology disciplines that inform understanding of health and pathophysiology of one or more of the organs and systems associated with alcohol damage are invited to apply. Of particular interest are candidates with expertise in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, statistical and bioinformatics know-how, or experience in the administration of observational studies and clinical cohorts.
