Member Unit Engagement Specialist

Provide administrative and program support within the membership department under the direct supervision of the Deputy Director of Membership Services.  Direct and implement the organization’s online community strategy.  Member Unit Engagement Specialist assist APHA’s Student Assembly, Forums, Caucuses and APHA committees.  The individual is responsible for (student) member engagement campaigns and programs.  Work with the Membership Marketing Manager on administrative tasks as specified by the director.

COMMUNICATION

  • APHA Connect (online community platform)
    • Manage engagement and activity to foster relationships within the APHA membership. Higher Logic community platform experience required.
    • Provide technical support and trouble-shoots problems with APHA IT and vendor.
  • Webinars
    • Monitor member unit’s Zoom accounts
    • Update webinar instruction manual

PROGRAMMING

  • Forums
    • Support Forums with online communities.
    • Update Forum web pages in Sitecore.
  • Student Assembly
    • Administer program development for fifteen subcommittees.
    • Develop mentoring program strategies.
    • Organize scholarships for 50 students to attend APHA Annual Meeting.
  • Caucus Collaborative
    • Schedule conference calls, coordinates Caucus Collaborative meeting and catering at APHA Annual Meeting.
    • Update APHA Caucus website
    • Collect and maintains Caucus MOUs and agreements.

MEMBERSHIP RECRUITMENT & ENGAGEMENT

  • Assist with ongoing programs and marketing activities to retain current student members.
  • Work with membership marketing manager to recruit new student members.
  • Compile survey results to be reviewed by staff and leaders.
  • Manage Student Assembly’s national campus liaison program.

Perform other duties as assigned based on needs of the department and the Association.

Undergraduate university degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience.  Familiarity with member-driven, nonprofit organization preferred.  Strong communication skills required, i.e., written and oral.  Attention to detail is a must.  Social media and online community management is needed.  Experience with Google Hangout and Adobe Connect will be beneficial. Computer proficiency required in Microsoft software and the use of iMIS database preferred.  Occasional weekend or evening work is expected.  Travel to the Annual Meeting is required with other occasional travel possible.  Requires occasional lifting and moving to 25 lbs.

Position is based in downtown DC near several metro stations. Hours: 35 hours a week, full-time, Mon-Fri. (daytime). Number of openings: 1.
