This system provides global coverage, monitor environmental conditions, collect, disseminate, and process data about the Earth's weather, atmosphere, oceans, land and near-space environment. This position is a combination of Oracle/PostgreSQL database administration and Linux Systems administration in the JPSS environment. As a System Administrator/Database Administrator the selected candidate will be part of a team responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and implementing solutions to optimize the infrastructure operations as well as configuring, managing, and maintaining the Oracle and Postgres relational databases. This work will include installations, upgrades, patching, tuning, systems integration, and systems analysis. Security of the Linux and database environments will be a top priority. Duties can include, but not limited to: Installation of database software upgrades, patch releases and system upgrades Linux Systems Administration Execution of recurring security maintenance and compliance functions across a widely dispersed ground system Installation of workstations, installing licenses, and adding VMWare VMs. Patch and Vulnerability evaluation, remediation, and work-off/closure of security findings Database benchmarking, data manipulation, SQL and physical storage Work location may be either Raytheon facility in Riverdale, MD or Aurora, CO. Position will be a combination of on-site (60-70%) and telecommuting Qualified applicants must be a US Citizen, will be subject to a security investigation, must be able to obtain a DOD Common Access Card (CAC) and pass a national agency check. Required Skills: 5 years of experience with Linux Systems Administration and Database Administration 1 year minimum experience with Oracle 12 and/or 19 Experience with large VMWare environments Oracle Support utility skills (PL/SQL, SQL, DataPump/export/import) Experience with security requirements for databases, developing, documenting, and implementing backup and recovery procedures. Hardware/software trouble shooting skills. Scripting Experience (bash, Perl, Python) Experience with database performance tuning, partitioning, blobs, database storage management, data security and protection, and performing backups/ restores. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationship with all levels of an organization, including customers, engineering organizations, IPT members, supporting functional organizations. Excellent written and oral communication skills Desired Skills: Networking Experience 1 year experience with PostgresSQL Windows Active Directory Experience Experience with database modeling and design AWS RDS database administration Required Education: University Degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience. Travel: Occasional travel in the Continental United States. Schedule: Normal work hours are between 8am and 5pm; however, various mission activities will require a flexible work schedule, sometimes off-hours, weekends and possibly holidays depending on mission needs.
