Responsible for organization of daily operation of assigned laboratory. Responsible for the assigned laboratory's workload and personnel scheduling, quality control, inventory, equipment maintenance, and conformance with the division's quality assurance program. Assists in the training of new employees as well as the development and revision of laboratory policies and procedures. Participates with Supervisor in the evaluating of employees. Performs laboratory tests, records and reports results. Maintains established levels of supplies and inventory. Responsible for initiating or verifying that proper actions are taken to resolve problems. Insures requisition and patient data are accurately reviewed, entered, and processed in the assigned systems. May supervise daily activities of Lab Tech I and II or Lab Tech-Certified Phlebotomist and/or Clinical Laboratory Scientist I (Processing area). May perform some or all of the duties of a Lab Tech II or Lab Tech-Certified Phlebotomist.Full-time, Evening Shift 3:00 pm - 11:30 am Weekend Work Required Work Location: Johns Hopkins 1800 Orleans StreetEducation: Associate's Degree in Biology or high school diploma including course work in biology, chemistry, and mathematics. and the completion of accredited phlebotomy training which precludes certification eligibility*. *To be eligible for ASCP-PBT certification you must complete a NAACLS approved phlebotomy program including clinical rotation/internship within the last five years, or completed a formal two part phlebotomy training program within the last five years (40 hours classroom and 100 venipunctures and 25 skin punctures), or be certified in another allied health profession (RN, LPN, MT, etc) which included formal phlebotomy training and completion of 100 venipunctures and 25 skin punctures.Required Licensure, Certification, Etc. Lead Lab Techs over Phlebotomy areas must be certified by an approved agency. Phlebotomy certification required. ASCP-PBT or equivalent certifying agency approved by the Department.Work Experience: Two or more years on the job as a Lab Technician II or higher.
