Successful candidates will work with a team of architects, software engineers, and developers to support the operations of Java-based microservices in a complex enterprise application. The candidate will help define the operations architecture, best practices, strategies and how these can be applied to support microservice-based enterprise applications. The candidate will work closely with the Program's Technical Manager and the Chief Technical Officer as well as other engineers across the application, security, information, and infrastructure disciplines to define a cohesive microservice operational strategy, vision and roadmap.The critical position objectives are to: Develop and communicate technical and operational support guidance, designs, patterns, guidelines, procedures and standards.Collaborate with project stakeholders in the development and evaluation of compliant operational solutions.Ensure compatibility with existing solutions, infrastructure, services, and strategic direction.Work with teams across the enterprise to ensure architectures adhere to enterprise standards, and delivered systems are scalable, loosely coupled, resilient, secure, performant, highly available, and easy to operate.Promote the use of shared platforms, services, and applications to reduce costs and improve overall efficiency.An understanding of DoD and government security standards and policies are needed to ensure all deployed changes are highly secure and available. QualificationsMinimum of 12 years' related IT experience with 6+ years in operational architecture, design, and development.Proven expertise with a track record of operational support within microservice-based solutions in a multi-user, multi-platform, multi-tier environment.Proven expertise in providing operational support in designs and roadmaps for monitoring large-scale, complex microservices-based applications used in business-critical operations featuring high performance/throughput and scalability; high availability; and secure communication and data access controls.Expertise in operational monitoring tools such as Nagios, the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana), etc. Solid understanding of infrastructure automation and software delivery tools such as Puppet, Ansible, etc.Knowledgeable in software engineering languages and tools; proficient in new and emerging middleware technologies such as Kafka, NIFI, MQ, Elasticsearch, etc. Strong understanding of polyglot persistence in microservices using a variety of database solutions such as MongoDB, Greenplum, SQL technologies, etc.General knowledge of access management, API hardening, encryption, and data privacy.Soft Skills Needed:Highly developed negotiation, consensus building & influencing skills, facilitation and the adaptability to respond to change quickly.Highly developed oral and written communication skills; strong presentation skills.Ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization.Experience working with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Lean Startup, XP) and cross-functional teams (Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Developers, Designers, Business Analysts).Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills with track record of taking solution ownership.Strong problem solving, troubleshooting, planning, and organizational skillsHands-on lead capable of executing strongly both as an individual contributor and as a member of a team.Education/Certifications:Bachelor`s or Master`s degree in Computer Science or equivalent field of study.CompTIA Security+ (desired)d1ce
