Assists with the troubleshooting and resolution of application issues related to defects, failures or performance problems. Provides leadership in configuring database systems to meet DIACAP, HIPAA and other security and compliance requirements. Assists data warehouse personnel in the transformation of logical data models into physical structures. Coordinates the database portion of the disaster recovery plan and participates in the planning, testing and implementation of recovery procedures. Provides architectural guidelines for the implementation of new database products or upgrades to existing products. Serves as the corporate expert on database systems, tools and products.Reporting to the Epic System Development Manager, develops department standards for DBMS installation, configuration, and security settings based on multiple auditing requirements and guidelines. Installs DBMS and provides mentorship to other persons in the IS department for all DBMS access and connectivity. Responsible for administration of Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle Cach to include creating, updating, maintaining, and performance monitoring of production database systems. Reviews SQL code used in writing ad-hoc queries, stored procedures, and database maintenance scripts and recommends appropriate changes to improve the quality, reliability and the performance of the code. Performs extraction, transformation, and load processes. Utilizes Windows Server, Active Directory, Red Hat Enterprise Linux and client server connectivity concepts in conjunction with DBMS tasks to administer data warehouses and large databases. Develops department standards for DBMS installation, configuration, and security settings based on multiple auditing requirements and guidelines. Installs DBMS and provides mentorship to other persons in the IS department for all DBMS access and connectivity. Oversees and participates in the technical administration of all JHHC DBMS products. Facilitates the transfer of knowledge in all database related areas including schema updates, database security changes, creation of maintenance plans, job scheduling, performance troubleshooting, monitoring, and database tuning. Makes technical recommendations on the purchase of third-party tools. Expected to create and maintain a disaster recovery plan that includes every detail needed to rebuild specific DBMS. Represents the Technical Support Department in all database related areas for IS projects including BI initiatives.REQUIREMENTS:A. Education: A Bachelor's Degree in a related field coupled with up to 4 years' experience as a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) administrator. OR an Associate's Degree in a related technical field with up to 5 years' experience in RDBMS administration OR at least 6 years' experience in RDBMS administration.B. Knowledge: Demonstrated experience with the administration of SQL Server databases including the creation, updating, maintenance, and performance monitoring of production database systems. Proficient in the SQL language including writing ad-hoc queries, stored procedures, and database maintenance scripts. Standard understanding of performance tuning techniques. Must possess a strong understanding of SQL server management and monitoring tools including SQL Server Management Studio. Standard level understanding of database development including database design and modeling. Ability to understand logical and physical database designs and to utilize them in the building of SQL databases. Working knowledge of extraction, transformation, load (ETL) techniques including experience using SSIS. Mandatory understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory, and client server connectivity concepts. Online analytical processing (OLAP) skills or experience administering a data warehouse is a plus. MCDBA/MCITP a plus.Strong knowledge of DBMS disaster recovery concepts. Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Red Hat Enterprise Linux and client server connectivity concepts in conjunction with DBMS tasks. Strong knowledge of DBMS disaster recovery concepts. C. Skills: Installs and configures database servers according to corporate standards. Installs and updates user applications (purchased and internally developed) which utilize SQL Server data stores. Implements database security procedures, including login and user access, which adhere to corporate policy and compliance requirements and documents security settings for database users in compliance with auditing requirements. Administer SQL Server databases including schema updates, database security changes, creation of maintenance plans, job scheduling, performance troubleshooting and monitoring. Solid ability to troubleshoot SQL Server jobs and automated backups. Can participate as part of a team (developers, system admins) to administer, maintain and troubleshoot client server aps. Experience backing up and restoring databases using SQL Server native and third-party tools. Ability to execute data warehouse multi-server jobs/loads according to monthly business schedule.Demonstrated experience with the administration of Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle Cach to include creating, updating, maintaining, and performance monitoring of production database systems. Able to review SQL code used in writing ad-hoc queries, stored procedures, and database maintenance scripts and to recommend appropriate changes to improve the quality, reliability and the performance of the code. Demonstrated ability in the use of advanced performance tuning techniques. Proficient with Linux and Windows operating systems and tools.D. Work Experience: At least four years of experience in the design, implementation, management and maintenance of a database application running on Microsoft SQL server and Oracle Cach. Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Intersystems Cach/Iris, Microsoft SQL. Epic's primary database and application runs on this software. Experience in relational database development including data modeling and the conversion of logical models to physical models and implementing them at the database level. Specific work experience utilizing SSIS or other ETL software to perform extraction, transformation, load processes. Proven work experience utilizing Windows Server, Active Directory, Red Hat Enterprise Linux and client server connectivity concepts in conjunction with DBMS tasks. Specific experience administering data warehouses and large databases. Demonstrated experience with monitoring, tuning, and administrating of Cache databases. Scripting experience required (PERL, Python, M language, etc - BASH strongly preferred). Demonstrated experience with Git and Satellite. F.
