Job Description

The Washington Post is looking for an experienced manager to join the communications and oversee community programs, partnerships and promotions. Responsibilities will include running programs like The Washington Post's Helping Hand, Washington-area Teachers and Principals Awards and the Press Freedom Partnership, in addition to negotiating and managing The Washington Post's local partnerships and sponsorships. In addition, candidate will develop and execute promotion strategies, including how to best utilize in-kind benefits and The Washington Post store. You will be responsible for promoting our business objectives to key stakeholder groups, including trade and tech media, industry analysts, influencers, partners.

Responsibilities
  • Drive all external communications around corporate initiatives, conceptualizing, researching and delivering data-driven stories spotlighting our people and innovation.
  • Building/maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with local business groups, community representatives, and not-for-profit organizations.
  • Coordinating community outreach to promote the organization's image in a positive and community-oriented way.
  • Engage with executives and staff from across the organization to build The Washington Post's profile as a world-class media and technology company and valued brand partner.
  • Provide strategic counsel to our executive team on a range of topics.
  • Drive industry thought leadership by developing platforms for key executives via interview opportunities, speaking engagements and more.
  • Continually foster deep knowledge of industry and trends to inform strategies for promotion and media outreach.
  • Establish and maintain outstanding relationships with trade, business, and tech media.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.


Qualifications
  • 10+ years' experience managing complex, organization-wide programs.
  • Bachelor's Degree is required
  • Experience counseling C-suite-level executives on key messaging.
  • This position is part of the communications and marketing leadership team and will consult on larger mar-comm projects across the company.
  • Ability to interact effectively and develop credibility from senior leadership, colleagues and external business partners.
  • Strategic, collaborative and creative thinker who can multitask on a variety of projects, prioritize moment to moment and deliver results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Inquisitive mindset with well-developed critical, analytical abilities.
  • Strong presentation, oral and written skills.
