Westat is an employee-owned corporation providing research services to agencies of the U.S. Government, as well as businesses, foundations, and state and local governments. We have an immediate opening for a Compensation and Benefits Specialist. In this role you will work with our Compensation and Benefits team supporting day-to-day administration of Westat's programs. You will use your proven analytical skills in combination with your strong organization and communication skills to collaborate with team members and internal clients. Your ability to navigate multiple tasks under tight deadlines will be a key part of this role.
This role will be eligible for telework, with 2-3 days per week on-site at Westat's Rockville, Maryland headquarters.
Job Responsibilities:
· Review and analyze new job descriptions and position requests ensuring proper FLSA and EEO classifications.
· Collect and evaluate salary and labor market research and participate in compensation surveys.
· Perform offer review and salary analysis, this includes verifying salary and grade based on progression and position minimum requirements, and ensuring internal equity is supported.
· Coordinate mid-year/annual compensation tasks
· Collaborate with Compensation and HR Business Partners on career progression planning.
· Review New Hire paperwork for correctness, assist the processing for payroll, and QC multiple systems to ensure accurateness.
· Provide back up support for 401k administration involving eligibility, vesting updates, employer match calculations, ADP/ACP testing, 5500 and other duties as required.
· Work closely with the Compensation, Recruiting and Benefits teams with miscellaneous projects
Basic Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years' experience in human resources, benefits, compensation or related field
· Understanding of compensation practices and the knowledge and ability to interpret federal, state and local labor laws
· Experience in 401k administration
· Proficiency in a Microsoft Windows environment including advanced Excel skills with VLOOKUP and Pivot tables
· Experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and market research systems (PayFactors and/or ERI).
