Senior Risk Manager - Enterprise Data Management

Job Description

As Senior Risk Manager in Capital One's EDM team you will apply your analytical, data management, and process management skills to support development and adoption of the Data Management Strategy. You will collaborate with your EDM team and partner with stakeholders across the enterprise on initiatives to help drive transformation and change necessary to achieve the Data Management strategic objectives and reduce our data risk.

Senior Risk Managers in EDM are highly motivated Data Management and Risk professionals with excellent organization, problem-solving, influence and communication skills. These individuals will have the opportunity to make sure Capital One has strong data management controls and practices and collaborate with other EDM associates to make sure the appropriate data management processes and controls are implemented. As Capital One evolves to meet the ever-changing technology landscape, so do our Sr. risk managers. They operate from a foundation of knowledge about the divisions with whom they are working, laws/regulations, processes and associated controls, and best practices in managing data risk. They are forward thinking, quick to adapt, and technologically adept.

Responsibilities:
  • Test and validate data management controls, systems, and processes within the lines of business across Capital One
  • Analyze data and influence others to proactively identify data risks and trends,
  • Work with other partners in EDM to assess data risk and communicate gaps and issues to the lines of business
  • Positively influence Capital One's data management maturity journey by providing recommendations on data management controls and best practices
  • Provide oversight and guidance to junior members of the team, including training, coaching and mentoring.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline, automate and enhance our data management practices, processes and controls, and validations

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Computer Science, Data Analytics or Military Experience
  • At least 6 years of experience in data governance, or data analytics, or systems development, or systems testing, or data risk management
  • At least 2 years experience working with data risk and data management controls


Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 4 years of experience in technology audit or risk management, preferably in Financial Services
  • At least 1 year experience with testing or reviewing system development methodologies and Agile practices
  • At least 1 year experience with reviewing code and/or knowledge of Python
  • At least 1 year experience working with AWS or cloud technologies
  • At least 1 year of experience coaching or supervising staff
  • CISA, CRISC, CIA, CRMA certification preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication experience
