Duties

As a Special Assistant, you will:
  • Perform a variety of special assignments, often with only a general outline of what is desired. Work in collaboration and partnership with other key principals within Ginnie Mae for the purpose of obtaining information or other material necessary to accomplish assignments.
  • Act as a problem solver or trouble shooter on special program and project problems as requested.
  • Provide insight and recommendation during the business planning process, and track progress, identify deviations and suggests plans to remediate.
  • Serve as the lead on all matters involving budget and project management for the Office, and proactively manage these functions in coordination with other Program Offices.
  • Carry out outgoing assignments and or special projects that require close personal contact with the SVP and the Senior Leadership team so as to be able to review, expedite, coordinate, and as required, arbitrate or in some instances make decisions on the SVP 's behalf.

The official duty station for this position will be in Washington, District of Columbia. Failure to report to duty at this location may be grounds for a disciplinary action, including removal.

    Qualifications

    You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

    Specialized Experience:

    For the GS-13, you must have one (1) year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:

    - Providing policy and procedural recommendations concerning internal administrative operations, organizational and management initiatives related to Office-wide priorities, mission and vision; AND
    - Providing advice and direction to senior managers on operational programs for a variety of management activities across an organization; AND
    - Performing a wide variety of projects in order to meet an organizational goal; AND
    - Supporting IT and Enterprise Data project management.

    Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service . One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    • A one year probationary period may be required.
    • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
    • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.

    • Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form i-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
