Gate Gourmet combines culinary expertise with the highest standards of food safety and production to deliver delicious, healthy, and affordable meals to over 270 million travelers around the globe.Job SummaryThe Director of Tax is responsible for leading and managing overall tax matters for the US and Canadian entities, including tax accounting, planning, compliance, and audits. Provide technical tax support to the Global Tax group for global transactions and structure changes with US/Canadian tax implications, and US/Canadian tax filings for non-US entities, as required. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Demonstrates expertise in a variety of tax areas.* Ensures the US and Canadian entities are compliant with all income, sales & use, property, and business license tax filing obligations. Ensures that expense is minimized through available tax planning opportunities, and the income, sales & use, and property tax expense is properly recorded in the companies' general ledgers. * These tasks will be accomplished by leading, coaching, and developing a blend of internal and external tax resources.Main Duties and Responsibilities:Provides leadership on all aspects of income tax accounting matters for the US and Canadian entities in accordance with IAS 12.Maintain internal communication with Accounting and Global Tax groups to ensure consistent tax accounting reporting.Ensure tax account analysis is maintained for income tax, property tax, sales & use tax accounts.Complete full-cycle of tax provisions from budget and re-forecasts, to quarterly and annual provisions.Maintain deferred tax account analysis, including DTA realization assessment under IAS 12.Researches federal and state tax law and develop strategies for tax planning, compliance, and audits.Manages US and Canadian tax compliance, including all federal and state & local income tax returns, extensions, estimated payments, sales and use tax, property tax, gross receipts tax, ensuring timely and accurate filings and payments.Manages and negotiates settlement of tax audits.Provides US and Canadian tax support to Global Tax group for global transactions and structure changes with US tax implications.Provides technical assistance with US and Canadian entity structure changes including reviewing tax sections of purchase/sale agreements, performing tax due diligence on potential acquisition targets, advising on optimal tax structure and modeling/forecasting potential tax consequences.Provides technical tax assistance with sales tax, property tax, gross receipts tax, business license tax, employee benefits, payroll tax, and Form 1099 reporting issues as required including completing research and analysis.Must be proficient in performing tax research, in analyzing results and in writing clear concise filing position documents.Supervises and mentors tax department.Manages relationships with outside consultants and business partners.Proactive tax planning for utilization of tax loss carried forward. QualificationsEducation:Bachelor's Degree in accounting required.Master's Degree in taxation or advanced Degree required.Work Experience:Minimum of 12 years of corporate tax experience required.Minimum of 8 years of supervisory and management experience required.8 -12 years of managerial experience relating to US and Canadian federal and state corporate income tax, sales and use tax, property issues, and tax audits.Technical Skills: (Certification, Licenses, and Registration)Certified Public Accountant (CPA) strongly preferredLanguage / Communication Skills:Must have excellent written and oral communication skillsMust have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with internal and external customersJob DimensionsGeographic Responsibility: North AmericaType of Employment: Full TimeTravel %: 25%Exemption Classification: ExemptWork Environment / Requirements of the Job: Regular office environmentTechnical expertise relating to federal and state tax, sales and use tax, property tax, and tax audits.Ability to manage a team and provide exceptional service in a complex and fast-paced operations environment.Strong customer relationship-building skills with both internal and external customers.Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.Working knowledge of SAP and HFM.
