The Councilis a high-energy, non-profit association located in the urban hub of Penn Quarter, just steps away from the Navy/Archives Metro station. Representingthe top commercial brokerage firms and agencies in the United States and around the world, The Council is currently seeking an Associate for our Accounting team that will be responsible for accounting and reporting on the largest industry political action committee, CouncilPAC. They will also handle other revenue accounting duties related to meetings, training, dues and sponsorships. The PAC and Revenue Accounting Associate is a new position for The Council.General duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:Processing/fulfilling PAC check requests at the direction of Government Affairsstaff, ensuring proper documentation and control processes are followed .. Enter PAC checks into FEC (Federal Election Commission) reporting system, VocusPrepare weekly PAC reports using Vocus of current giving for Government Affairs teamreview.Complete regular reviews of FEC reports on PAC collections and disbursements withAccounting staff.Working in the accounting system, Intacct, prepare journal entries of wires, checks andcredit card contributions for PAC and other revenue transactions.Provide weekly analytics on contributions by tracking firm donations using excel oranother database, particularly while campaigns are active, member companies areupdated at the end of each week.Working in Salesforce database, create records and pull report as needed to confirmmembership as needed for PAC donors.Provide weekly PAC analytics report to Marketing & Communications team to updatemember firm donation website reports.Working with outside counsel, Government Affairs and Accounting staff, compile andcomplete Quarterly and Bi-Annual Lobbying reports.Process revenue income from meetings, donations, working groups, dues and advertisingfor all Council subsidiaries in Intacct and provide receipts as requested.Basic Qualifications:Four-year college degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience in accounting,general ledger and non-profit specific GAAP accounting. Experience:A minimum of four years experience, preferably with a non-profit with for profitsubsidiaries. Experience with political action committee accounting desired.Strong organizational, written and verbal communications skills. Demonstratedcustomer service-oriented personality.Must demonstrate a high applicationof detail orientation and context driven work.Must be results-orientedteam-player and self-motivated work habits are a must, with the ability tomultitask within tight deadlines, and interact well with all levels of staff,vendors and Council members. Familiarity and understanding of basic financialstatement and the full accounting business cycle.Excellent writing skillsand ability to analyze and articulate matters relating to accounting andfinancial issues.Computer Skills: Proficiency in all MS Officeapplications required. Experience with accounting software and external payableservice providers. Intacct, Salesforceand other CMS application experience required. Vocus system experience highlydesirable.Physical Demands: This is an in-office position for 3 days a week at this time although that may change at any time.Visual ability for reading and reviewing written materials. Hearing and verbal ability to fully participate and interact in meetings and forums.Travel: NoneOther:Overtime is required in order to meet scheduled deadlines. The position is a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position.
