DescriptionRational 360, a quickly growing communications and public affairs firm headquartered in Washington DC, is hiring a Director, Media Booking & Pitching to lead earned media promotion for several client accounts and to support earned media needs across our firm. Candidates should have at least 3-5 years of prior public relations, communications or journalism experience and have a strong track record of securing top-tier media opportunities for clients across a variety of mediums (television, radio, print, and digital). The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the news cycle, familiarity with how reporters and producers source story ideas and interviews, and the ability to effectively pitch across multiple topic areas relevant to business, political, and mainstream media.Candidates must possess strong writing and project management skills, and be eager to work in a fast-paced environment and able to manage a diverse workload. Directors engage in daily client consultation and strategy development, produce high-level communications materials and manage media relations campaigns. In advertising, politics, public affairs, new media, public company communications, change management, brand positioning strategies, corporate social responsibility, thought leadership programs, and consumer media relations.RequirementsAt least 3-5 years of communications or public relations experience with proven results and experience working with reporters/producersProven experience at securing top-tier media including television, national print outlets and digital programmingEstablished relationships with booking producers at broadcast/cable news networks, prominent podcasts and relevant radio programsAn understanding of media trends and the workings of news outlets to identify new opportunities every day to promote client prioritiesSkilled at running initiatives to increase brand awareness by booking talent on national/local broadcasts, podcasts, radio and digital platformsExcellent verbal and written communications skillsProven ability to develop creative, strategic solutions to communications challengesExperience managing staffExperience managing clients and/or project teamsStrong attention to detail, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneouslyExperience developing and editing high-quality written materialsFamiliarity with the professional use of digital media channelsExperience developing and editing high-quality written materialsExperience working with top government, corporate, and/or association executivesBenefitsRational 360 offers competitive compensation including year-end bonuses and a 401K match.
