Duties

  • You will integrate the work authorized for the shipyard, ship's force, and other maintenance providers for each project by ensuring the sequencing and scheduling of all work supports the projects team strategy.
  • You will be responsible for the coordination and/or direction of Work Integration Group personnel, depending on the size of the project.
  • You will conduct ongoing risk assessment with regards to all non-shipyard work and make recommendations for risk mitigation strategies.
  • You will coordinate the method of updating the schedule with other maintenance providers to maintain the project schedule as an accurate assessment tool of overall project progress.
  • You will participate in Project Orientation briefs to ensure Contractors understand work requirements and procedures, and resolve issues.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.


Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Experience with sequencing, integrating, directing, and managing the accomplishment of technical and skilled trade operations
  • Experience with ship repair project planning, integration, scheduling, and execution strategy.
  • Experience with location, capacity, capability, and availability of facilities and services of the naval shipyard industrial complex.
  • Experience with interrelationships between ship systems and their operating requirements to resolve conflicts.
  • Experience with administration and review of government contracts to support shipyard work operations.

Education

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
