Description INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST (PAX-21-1787-F) Location: NAS Patuxent River, MD anticipate position to be 90% telework and 10% in office. Bowhead seeks a communication specialist to join our team located at NAS Patuxent River, MD. This is an exciting opportunity to support a high-visibility and cutting-edge naval aviation program. Essential functions will include: Build rapport and credibility with client based on trust, expert counsel and consistently delivering high-quality work Help maintain the organization s corporate image and identity Coordinate the release or all materials prepared by contractor and government personnel intended for public release Continually monitor the news for relevant material and disseminate as appropriate to program personnel Lead the program s efforts to track and submit nominees for relevant awards and recognition Support event planning and execution including ceremonies, media events, and tours Work closely with the government public affairs officer (PAO) and program subject matter experts to develop strategic communication plans and help prepare and fact-check responses for PAO to reply to media queries. Assist government Public Affairs Officer to ensure advance preparation of leadership and technical personnel participating in media interviews, conferences and other public appearances Coordinate with government Public Affairs Officer to create content, including articles, fact sheets, talking points, photo captions, presentations, and other internal products Requirements In accordance with Executive Order 14042: Ensuring Adequate COVID Safety Protocols for Federal Contractors, candidates should be aware that they may be required to have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. BS or BA degree in communication, journalism, or a related writing-intensive field 4-6 years of experience as a communications professional Experience creating internal and external communication products for multiple audiences Must be strong writer with a solid command of Associated Press style Flexible, persistent self-starter with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced and high-pressure environment Familiarity with change management and risk communications highly desired Prior experience supporting DoD or government agency preferred Ability to work with multimedia and digital development professionals; multimedia experience welcomed Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office suite skills - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint. Office 365 a plus. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment, with the ability to work alone or as part of a team SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be willing to obtain a Secret clearance. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location. TRAVEL: Up to 1 to 2 trips per year Applicants may be subject to a pre-employment drug & alcohol screening and/or random drug screen, and must follow UIC s Non-DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program requirements.
