Are you fascinated by advanced missile and hypersonic reentry / strike systems?Do you want to analyze the accuracy and performance of these high performance weapon systems using real flight test data?Are you up to the challenge of learning from specialists in the field of accuracy and inertial navigation?If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL!We are seeking a hardworking engineer with a background in flight test analysis, flight dynamics, or strategic weapon system performance to analyze some of the most sophisticated missile systems in the world!As a Flight Test Accuracy Engineer, your primary responsibilities will be to Analyze and understand data collected from on-board navigation sensors including inertial measurement units (IMU) and Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers as well as off-board sensor systems (eg RADAR).Establish proficiency with analysis tools and methods to understand the effects of multiple flight events on the end-to-end trajectory of complex flight systems.Develop in-depth knowledge of the flight systems we evaluate. Strive to understand how they work, how they are used by the warfighter, and how technologies can be leveraged across systems and sponsors we serve.Support the design, development, and maintenance of analysis software and procedures required to evaluate current and future flight system performance.Present findings to a broad internal audience as well as multiple government sponsors and external organizations at working groups, post-flight briefings, and other program reviews.QualificationsYou meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you Have a BS in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Physics (or closely related technical field).Have a strong sense of curiosity to understand how and why a system works and the initiative to follow up on that curiosity.Have experience evaluating the performance of aerospace vehicles using real-world test data (IMU, GPS, or similar) and have a strong understanding of their dynamics.Have experience in Matlab.Are able to obtain an Interim Secret security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship.Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
