Responsibilities: Peraton is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join a dynamic team of network and unified communications engineers, in our Alexandria, VA office.This team provides planning, design, configuration, and deployment, and tier 3-4 troubleshooting support for our DOD customer. As a Sr. Network Engineer, you will bring your years of experience and expertise to propel the team to success and will be a pivotal member of a team that drives work forward within the program. The work is hands-on and requires engineers that can work with limited guidance, and you will provide technical guidance to junior engineers. You will support the creation and review of network designs, conduct hardware evaluations in a lab, and with vendors. An excellent candidate will not shy away from writing a test plan or reading through vendors technical documents to solve a problem and write a resolution report.Examples of daily tasks includes:Create/modify network drawings, author system engineering documents and plansSupport design, test, and pre-deployment readiness reviewsProvides team with recommendations on modern engineering approaches and strategies to improve successful task order deploymentsDevelops, implements, and manages network engineering processes including configuration management and design standards to ensure contract compliance, technological relevancy, and sustainabilityPerforms capacity planning of the network by monitoring and analyzing network performance and availabilityProactively researches and evaluates tools and technologies, as appropriate, to the network environment, while developing solutions to increase performance and lower the total cost of ownershipFlexible with scheduled support of occasional ASI/outages after hours and on weekends Qualifications: Required QualificationsBachelors Degree in computer engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or other related engineering degree and a minimum of 8+ years of related professional experience; 14+ years may be substituted in lieu a degree.Experience with the design, implementation and support of network infrastructure solutions for routing and switching of complex networks.Experience implementing and troubleshooting WAN topologies leveraging ethernet, T-Carrier, and Optical Carrier circuits.Experience and understanding of networking fundamentals such as network protocols and common services (eg, DNS, FTP, SSH, SNMP).Implementation and troubleshooting experience of networks using concepts/protocols such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPNs and emerging concepts such as Software Defined Networking.CCNP Enterprise (formerly Certified Network Professional (CCNP)IAT Level 3 Certification: (Examples include: SP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, GCED, GCIH, and CCSP).Prior experience supporting a Government and/or Department of Defense customerMust have a current TS/SCI security clearance and the ability to maintain the clearance.Preferred Qualifications:Engineering degree with a networking focus.8+ total years of experience in the architecture/design, development, and implementation of Wide Area Network (WAN) architecture.Exceptional verbal, written (including the development of CONOPS and procedural documentation), interpersonal, and presentation skills.Experience using Python to automate routine network tasks.Understanding and experience with Software Defined Network (SDN) deployments.Juniper Enterprise Routing and Switching, Professional (JNCIP-ENT).Advanced Network monitoring and log analysis tool experience with the ability to deploy and improve the current deployments of these systems.Experience working in a telecommunications carrier environment performing mission critical network implementations.Self-driven and resourceful in achieving goals independently as well as in cooperation with others.Experience with application of DoD IAVAs, DISA STIGs, and NIST security controls.#LI-VI1 For Colorado Residents: Colorado Salary Minimum: $90,022.40 Colorado Salary Maximum:$192,441.60 The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position, and is just one component of Peraton's total compensation package for employees.
