Principal Associate, Project Manager - Compliance & Ethics PMO - Chief of Staff Office

As a Principal Associate level Project Manager, you will be a part of an organization that's dedicated to helping Capital One identify, manage and effectively mitigate risk - for our customers, our communities and our associates. Within the Compliance & Ethics department, you'll work with talented associates and senior stakeholders to deliver results that ensure our businesses effectively manage compliance risk. As part of our team, you will deliver high priority projects, and provide organizational readiness support for key initiatives. We're looking for someone to bring a unique perspective and experiences to help us be rigorous, curious and creative for innovative solutions. As part of the department's PMO-Chief of Staff team you will be a member of a high performing team of project management, change, communications, governance and associate engagement professionals. This team develops and implements strategies that drive departmental effectiveness and well-managed initiatives. You will be working side-by-side with experienced project managers, communication, process management and change management professionals, and strategic consultants. To be successful in this role, the associate will be a highly motivated professional with excellent project, process and communication skills. They will have a high level of exposure across the enterprise and lines of business in how we identify, manage and mitigate potential risks to Capital One. Customers for the work include Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering & Corporate Integrity leaders at all levels, and key stakeholders across partner teams and project leads.

Responsibilities:
  • Work autonomously leading small to medium scale projects and participate in larger programs that have a direct impact on the company
  • Drive projects based on defined priorities; ensure scope of deliverables, timelines are met; identify risks and issues and mitigate and / or escalate as needed
  • Leverage problem solving skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent and maintain key project documentation
  • Build relationships and collaborate with customers and cross-functional key stakeholders to understand needs and drive results to meet those needs
  • Demonstrate outstanding communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders across all levels to manage, inform, and influence outcomes
  • Distill big picture intent into tactical requirements and implementation plans; designing, developing, managing and executing integrated project plans in a complex dynamic environment, revising needs to meet changing requirements
  • Ensure status reports are submitted regularly, accurately, appropriately detailed, and visible to all relevant stakeholders
  • Familiarity and ability to work across multiple delivery constructs such as Waterfall, Agile (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe), and hybrid
  • Demonstrate the ability to quickly implement a strong project framework and structure around new initiatives and sometimes ambiguous problem sets


  • Basic Qualifications:
    • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
    • At least 2 years of Project Management experience


  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Masters / MBA degree
    • 4 years of Project Management experience
    • PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification
    • 1 year of financial services, banking industry, or risk experience
    • Change Management experience
    • Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering or Corporate Integrity experience
