Duties

  • Perform statistical analyses of existing data on student achievement and curriculum program to explore the links between these and the broader issues that affect the education of students in a K-12 school system.
  • Compile, analyze and/or interpret information related to K-12 student performance and identify needs of the user.
  • Oversee research and evaluation for a K-12 school system to generate information for stakeholders.
  • Develop K-12 research and/or evaluation designs to assess major initiatives and areas of need.
  • Oversee monitoring of strategic plan priorities for a K-12 school system.
  • As first-level supervisor, assign work to subordinates based on priorities, difficulty of assignments, and/or the capabilities of employees.

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.

  • One year supervisory probation period may be required.
  • This position requires a Tier 3 (T3) investigation with Childcare Checks since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Basic requirement for a Supervisory Education Research Analyst:

Degree:
Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours in a field related to the work, of which at least one course was in research methods and at least two courses were in statistics. (Note: You must attach ALL copies of your OFFICIAL transcripts).

OR

Combination of education and experience which includes at least 24 semester hours in a field related to the work of the position, of which at least one course was in research methods and at least two courses in statistics, plus appropriate experience or additional education. My experience demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the principles underlying the work of this position and understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the methods and techniques applied in performing work in this position. (Note: You must attach ALL copies of your OFFICIAL transcripts.)

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience above school level (K-12 district, central office, state level, etc.) that is equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service which includes: utilizing statistical analysis data to identify and solve K-12 educational problems, developing reports based on statistical analysis of K-12 school data, developing a research framework for multiple K-12 school disciplines, assessing research proposals for adherence to existing policy, and conducting continuous improvement practices for a K-12 educational system.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
