Duties

• Responsible for the Design, implementation, and monitoring National Level Programs to advance community policing.
• Provide technical guidance, planning and coordinating while collaborating with team members and the scientific community to evaluate social science projects and programs.
• Oversee, review and evaluate proposals and selection of grants, contracts, and cooperative reimbursement agreements.
• Complete research methods and statistics as applied to criminology and/or sociology to develop and assess new crime reduction and community policing programs and initiatives.
• Prepare specialized reports, review and research pertinent literature, and program material, regarding higher level decisions.
• Conduct statistical analyses of internal COPS Office data using common bivariate and multivariate statistical techniques (such as analysis of variance and regression analysis), and writes detailed reports for publication.
• Perform other duties as assigned in accordance and within scope of the position.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Social Science Analyst at (GS-0101-11/12/13), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

A four year degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
A combination of education and experience that included at least 24 semester hours of course work; such as sociology, criminal justice, government/political science, psychology, and other related social or behavioral science courses.
OR
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

AND

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE For the GS-11, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 in the Federal service. At a minimum, specialized experience must be in or related to the following:

Executing and conducting behavioral and social science research methods and statistics as applied to criminology or sociology;

Assisting with plans, projects, programs and initiatives to advance community policing and

Assisting in crime reduction and community policing

For the GS-12, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. At a minimum, specialized experience must be in or related to the following:

Applying, and researching behavioral and social science methods and techniques on criminology and/or sociology related issues and projects;

Assisting with designing and implementing programs to advance community policing;

Developing guidance on techniques for social science programs related to crime reduction and community policing and

Conducting written analysis that relate to the development, interpretation, or implementation of programs and policies.

For the GS-13, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service. At a minimum, specialized experience must be in or related to the following:

Performing, and researching behavioral and social science methods and techniques on criminology and/or sociology related issues and projects;

Designing and implementing programs to advance community policing;

Developing guidelines and policies for social science programs related to crime reduction and community policing and

Conducting written analysis that relate to the development, interpretation, or implementation of programs and policies

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements:
1.
