Duties

• You will provide treatment services including inpatient services, consultation liaison services, partial hospitalization, day programs, emergency psychiatric services, tele-psychiatric services and routine and intensive outpatient services;
• You will monitor treatment effectiveness through evidence based medicine and alter course of treatment as needed through individualized treatment plans;
• You will provide continuing follow-up care for inpatients and outpatients with mental health disorders and for complications related to these disorders;
• You will provide psychiatric care for walk-in patients presenting with acute illness;
• You will conduct evaluations of patients including integration of laboratory, radiological and clinical findings;
• You will prescribe appropriate pharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatment;
• You will determine and provide mental health assessments of fitness and suitability for duty and deployments of service members based on psychiatric clinical assessments;
• You will collaborate on cases involving complicated and multifaceted problems and provide consultation to other staff such as psychologists, advanced practice nurses, social workers, and other healthcare providers;
• You will serve as a member of the professional medical staff and/or to provide advisory services on meetings, committees, conferences, and/or boards.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Residency Training for GP-15 Positions: Applicants must have successfully completed 5 years of graduate training in the specialty (i.e. Psychiatry) of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training.

Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Applicants must also be able to satisfy clinical privileges requirements which, in addition to the above, includes the following:

• Completion of a residency program in Psychiatry approved by the American specialty board or AOA, board certification, or board eligible
• Current clinical competence (e.g., privileged to independently practice a Psychiatry Physician within the past 2 years, actively practiced within the past 2 years by having encountered a sufficient number of clinical cases to represent a broad spectrum of the privileges required)
• No health status contraindications to granting clinical privileges
• Board certification is desired but not required

Education

In addition to meeting the basic requirement to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Degree : Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must have provided education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
