Duties

• You will conduct Occupational Health Program medical examinations for pre-employment, fitness for duty, medical surveillance, special duty certification, job certification requirements, and more.
• You will coordinate with facility and community resources to provide comprehensive work-related care to employees.
• You will serve as an occupational medicine consultant regarding hazardous conditions or exposures, interpretation of medically related regulations, occupation exposures to infectious agents, etc.
• You will provide comprehensive occupational medicine evaluation and management of workers to include consultations, diagnosis, treatment and prevention planning for those at risk for occupational and environmental disease conditions.
• You will develop and oversee medical surveillance and medical qualification programs.

• You will be required to use protective clothing and gear and observe safety precautions.
• You must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
• A favorable Tier 3 background investigation is required.
• This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Residency Training for GP-14 Positions: Applicants must have successfully completed 4 years of graduate (i.e., residency) training in the specialty (i.e., Occupational Medicine) of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training.

Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Applicants must also be able to satisfy clinical privileging requirements which, in addition to the above, includes the following:

• Completion of a residency program in Occupational Medicine approved by the American specialty board or AOA, board certification, or board eligible.
• Current clinical competence (e.g., privileged to independently practice as an Occupational Medicine Physician within the past 2 years, actively practiced within the past 2 years by having encountered a sufficient number of clinical cases to represent a broad spectrum of the privileges required).
• No health status contraindications to granting clinical privileges.
• Board certification is desired, but not required.

Selective Placement Factor: This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factors is: Possession of Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Certification.

Education

In addition to meeting the basic requirement to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Degree : Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must have provided education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
