NLP Data Scientist
Job Summary We are currently seeking a Natural Language Processing (NLP) Data Scientist to support a multi-disciplinary team focused on analyzing chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) related and advanced technological threats for US government clients. This position is located in either Columbus, OH or the National Capital Region. seeks to utilize natural language processing (NLP) and data analysis techniques to deliver cutting edge insights from varied and complex data sets. These efforts will reduce the tedious parts of processing large amount of unstructured data allowing researchers to focus on desired topics of interest. As a Data Scientist supporting the CBRNE business line, you will be working with a team of biologists, chemists, and engineers to assist in solving complex national security questions. The pace of technological progress is accelerating globally. That accelerated pace makes the continual monitoring of scientific and technical literature for developments relevant to protecting the nation a continual challenge. Considering the number of subdisciplines to track and the standard workflow for making expert judgments about technology readiness means that subject matter expertise can be inadequate without additional assistance. The NLP Data Scientist will team with scientific and technical experts to identify strategies to meet this challenge. Major Responsibilities The NLP Data Scientist role is multifaceted. While the focus of this position will be to develop NLP tools to parse scientific and technical literature to identify trends and make predictions, this role will also develop new AI/Client based approaches to solving other data-intensive challenges as needed. Responsibilities for this role include: Staying informed of emerging computational and NLP trends and technologies and leading the implementation of those technologies towards the development of CBRNE-focused NLP tools. Leading the development and improvement of technical literature monitoring platforms, in collaboration with software engineers Using machine learning and AI to train the NLP platform on datasets provided by scientists Uses analytics to support and make predictions about critical changes in monitored science and technology domains Development of a Client algorithm for anomaly detection Apply other various data science concepts to a variety of problems, including Client models, linear and non-linear regressions, and neural networks The Following Is Required Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Mathematics, or related field. 5+ years of related work experience in NLP and AI/Client Strong proficiency in R and Python Experience with SQL or similar data querying language Strong collaboration skills Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET level US Government security clearance. THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED PhD in Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Mathematics, or related field.
