Travel Required: NonePublic Trust: NACLC (T3)Requisition Type: RegularGDIT is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support the US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases Bacteriology Division. The Bacteriology Division mission is to conduct basic and applied research on specified bacterial threats resulting in scientific data to support medical solutions to protect the war fighter. Their vision is to be a team-oriented scientific body and provide cutting-edge medical research for the war fighter against bacterial threats.The Laboratory Technician provides laboratory support with laboratory experiments in BSL-2 and BSL-3 laboratories and thus must hold and maintain BPRP status; IAW the provisions in this contract and applicable regulations.Responsibilities:Responsible for BSL-3 laboratory operations and training in animal manipulationsAssist in establishing new active material transfer agreements and cooperative research and development agreements with pharmaceutical companies/ universities. Perform in vitro Minimum Inhibition Concentration (MIC) tests of potential therapeutic compounds against Tier 1 bacteria to include Bacillis anthracis (anthrax); Yersinia pestis (plague); Fransicella tularensis (tularemia); Burkholderia mallei (glanders); and Burkholderia pseudomallei (meliodosis).Participate in BSL-2 PK mouse studies; to include preparation of antibiotics for administration; administering drugs and vaccines; orally and by intraparitoneal injections. Upon execution of the experiment; contractor will perform animal health exams to ensure study was in compliance with IACUC approved protocols.Participate in weekly lab meetings and assist in development and design with current and future in vitro and in vivo work.Assist with data collection and analysis for posters to be presented at scientific conferences which may require work to be performed outside normal business hours.Requirements:B.S. in a scientific disciplineExperience executing scientific studies including: plaque assays; PCR and other assays; animal proceduresExperience in collection/data analyzingExperience maintaining laboratory and laboratory equipmentMust be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a favorable Public Trust security investigation prior to start date.Preferred:Experience with Infectious DiseasesExperience in a BSL 2 and/or BSL 3 lab#GDITPRIORITY#MILITARYHEALTH#MILITARYHEALTHGDITJOBS#DCMetroMilitaryHealthOpportunities#GDITFedHealthJobsCOVID-19 Vaccination Requirement: To protect the health and safety of its employees and to comply with customer requirements, GDIT may require employees in certain positions to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
