The Washington Post is hiring an Events Specialist to execute event and experiential marketing plans and manage the organization's sports & entertainment ticketing efforts. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to a customer-first service approach and can consistently meet strict deadlines and budget demands, while producing high quality and effective client experiences. Candidate must be an excellent communicator and have the ability to manage multiple high-profile projects at the same time.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the efforts of the organization's client entertainment program including but not limited to corporate suites, season tickets, sporting events and concerts
  • Coordinate with internal staff and clients on all ticketing requests and provide approvals in a timely manor using the agreed-upon metrics for ticket approvals and distribution
  • Manage all on-site catering and promotional requests for the organization's corporate suites and season tickets ensuring a seamless client experience
  • Coordinate and execute marketing event and experience programs for the Client Solutions department
  • Plan and facilitate logistics for all events, including contract negotiations, guest lists, venue preparation, presentation materials, invitation process, design coordination, security, catering, entertainment, transportation, equipment, decor, and marketing materials
  • Build and grow relationships with internal partners, vendors, venues, and other industry contacts to craft and implement creative and logistical aspects of multiple in-person, virtual and hybrid events and marketing programs
  • Stay current, and often ahead of the curve, on event planning, virtual event technology, design, and production trends, proactively identifying and solving operational challenges
  • Establish standard procedures for events and experiential marketing programs and work with internal stakeholders and clients to execute them
  • Comply with legal, insurance, health and safety regulations at all times
  • Troubleshoot and handle any issues that arise before and during the event
  • Conduct post-event and post-campaign reporting and recaps as needed and communicate learnings to key stakeholders


Qualifications
  • 3+ years' experience in corporate or hospitality events with a preference in working within or close to the sales department of an organization
  • Proven success executing multiple events and experiential marketing campaigns
  • Client-first spirit and effective in providing exceptional customer service to internal and external partners
  • Solutions-oriented mindset and proven ability to exercise good judgement in a high-pressure, constantly changing work environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in maintaining and building enriching business and client relationships
  • Excellent organizational skills, including multitasking, time management, and meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to handle pressure and make split-second decisions
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Proficient with or a willingness to learn the Cvent registration tool used to manage registration and event logistics
  • Proficient with or a willingness to learn virtual and hybrid event technology including Zoom, Cvent, Webex
  • Flexibility to travel both domestic and internationally, as needed
  • Required to regularly work outside of the traditional daily work hours
