Principal Associate, Brand Agency Relations-Brand

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented marketing professional to join the Capital One Brand Agency Relations team as a Principal Associate, responsible for sourcing and managing top social, event activation, sweepstakes and promotions agencies used by the Brand department. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of how to develop great partnerships while managing performance and risk, and a passion for building industry connections to uncover tools and insights for the benefit of our internal customers.

What you'll do:

  • Serve as relationship manager/lead for external branding, social, experiential marketing, sweepstakes and promotions partners who support enterprise marketing needs
  • Manage sourcing initiatives and major projects for the internal Sponsorships, Social, Brand Strategy and Insights teams
  • Provide regular communication and reporting to accountable executives, Brand senior leadership, and key agency stakeholders
  • Strategically lead the search and selection of agency options to match needs and requests from an internal customer base
  • Guide internal stakeholder teams and requestors through established paid talent and promotion and sweepstakes processes
  • Lead the content development and socialization of various communications and artifacts to promote the Brand Agency Relations team internally
  • Partner with agency roster and beacon brands to gather insights that drive business value to Capital One and advance Brand's agendas
  • Create internal and external best practices and training materials for virtual education sessions, in collaboration with other Brand teams or internal stakeholders
  • Demonstrate the ability to grow and maintain relationships with internal customers and agency partners
  • Collect and analyze performance feedback for managed third parties aligned with this role via quantitative and qualitative surveys and joint stakeholder discussions to frame up opportunities for development
  • Oversee and negotiate agency contracts and processes including developing scope, track upcoming contract expirations, and ensure purchase orders and invoices are processed appropriately
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to resolve issues, facilitate corrective actions and conduct follow-up activities
  • Develop solid understanding of the financial services competitive category, stay current with marketing trends and identify opportunity areas

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
  • At least three (3) years of experience in relationship management


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Creative, or Communications
  • At least five (5) years of experience in relationship management at an agency, production company, or major brand
  • Passion for marketing, creativity and brand building, and the growing social media and sponsorships landscapes
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a focus on active listening and negotiation
