Market Research Consumer Insights & Analytics, Principal Associate

Capital One is seeking a Consumer Insights & Analytics Principal Associate to join our Card Customer Experience Insights & Analytics team. This group provides consumer insights that inform products, services, experiences and marketing strategies for our credit card business, including both acquiring new card customers and engaging existing customers.

  • Hands on with Data: Able to interrogate and manipulate first- and third-party data to surface learning opportunities, advance learning agendas, refine research designs, and enrich research analyses
  • Well-rounded from a disciplinary perspective: Experienced using methodologies that involve behavioral psychology, behavioral economics, neuroscience, etc. to better understand consumer decision making, especially the subconscious realm that consumers often can't articulate
  • Organized: can drive projects to completion, prioritize across multiple requests, and manage a budget
  • A storyteller: Comfortable packaging and presenting insights in a compelling way
  • Influential: Able to effectively impact the thinking of internal clients
  • A great teammate: Brings a positive attitude and is enjoyable to work with


In this role you will develop impactful insights that drive strategy and decision making. To do this you will...
  • Provide research support and proactively identify opportunities for improving marketing communications results across a variety of channels (i.e., direct mail, web, email, mobile).
  • Lead research to support product development and go-to-market strategies and tactics, including the optimization of marketing communications prior to in-market testing
  • Actively seek and evaluate new approaches for unearthing insights
  • Maintain a network with internal partners to identify and prioritize research needs (including developing and managing learning agendas)
  • Creatively integrate primary research, customer data, secondary sources, and marketplace intelligence in analyses
  • Leverage a network of research suppliers to execute studies, and employ DIY approaches
  • Present insights to business partners and senior leadership that drive business decisions
  • Socialize insights across the partner teams


Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in a marketing research or consumer insights role to include planning, execution and analysis of market research - both qualitative and quantitative
  • At least 3 years experience with statistical analysis


Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 3 years experience in SQL, Tableau, SPSS or STATA
  • Experience with Qualtrics and/or Decipher survey software
  • Experience working on the vendor or client side
