Duties

  • Maintains knowledge of military personnel programs through individual research and liaison with higher headquarters.
  • Conducts weekly out-processing briefing for all soldiers.
  • Reviews records to determine eligibility for actions involving eligibility, MOS/Medical Retention Board (MMRB), promotions, ID benefits, transition services, etc.
  • Establishes and maintains all required forms, records, and files pertaining to assigned work.
  • Serves as a final reviewer of eligibility or entitlement determinations on various personnel actions requests.
  • Performs all aspects of retirement/separation counseling and processing.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: Your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: completing a variety of military personnel actions and separation packages and forms; analyzing collected data for accuracy; utilizing clerical or administrative procedures to complete reports and/or correspondence; and interpreting and/or applying regulations or procedural requirements.

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as such as Business, Human Recourse Management or similar to the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
