Serves as a Senior Congressional Affairs Officer in the Office of Congressional Affairs and is responsible for providing day-to-day liaison activities with various Congressional members, committees, and their staffs, as assigned. Other pertinent duties include specializing in all aspects of Congressional hearings - preparation of hearing background materials, day of event planning, transcript review, questions for the record and all related activities associated with Congressional hearings. The incumbent is responsible for working closely with a NRC regional office to direct all Congressional activity in the region as well as developing and maintaining close and effective working relationships with Members of Congress, their staff and the staffs of committees having jurisdiction over matters of importance and interest of the NRC; assuring direct, expeditious handling of all material provided to Congress under section 303 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended; and attending and reporting on Congressional hearings bearing on the NRC activities and nuclear energy matters generally. Frequent trips to Capitol Hill are required.

All candidates must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level (GG-14) or equivalent.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is experience that demonstrates the ability to analyze and report on complex matters involving NRC's relation with Congress. Candidates should also have an extensive knowledge of and working experience with Congress, its organization and operation, and of the legislative process.
