Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Nurse Manager, Registered Nurse (RN) for our Med/Surg Flex Unit , who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.

As a Nurse Manager, you will:

•Directly report to the Director and is responsible for operationalizing the strategic plan for their department
•Be responsible for ensuring the assessment, coordination, implementation and evaluation of the delivery of safe and effective patient-centered care.
•Facilitate, mentor and evaluate others to grow professionally and advance their knowledge and skills.
•Assess unit needs to ensure adequate resources are available.
•Demonstrate professionalism at all times and will uphold standards of practice by holding team members accountable for continued compliance in accordance with organizational goals and nursing mission and vision.
•Monitors staff performance, behaviors, and competency for performance reviews.
•Responsible for the outcomes of quality improvement initiatives, contributes to improvement efforts, and champions change by identifying obstacles and requesting resources for effective improvement programs.
•Investigates and assists in the resolution of significant events such as: near misses; adverse events; patient/family complaints; and, any situation that affects the safe delivery of patient-centered care in a timely manner.
•Coordinates/participates in continuing education activities within the department and organization.
•Assigns and coordinates patient flow to deliver safe and effective patient-centered care.
•Monitors the adequacy of supplies and equipment necessary for patient care, adjusting the par level and advocating for additional supplies when needed.
•Identifies resource needs, works with leadership & staff to identify priorities for safe patient care, establishes interdepartmental & interprofessional collaboration.
•Contributes to department and organizational education programs, meetings, committees, and professional initiatives.
•Able to resolve conflicts effectively, prioritizes tasks, responds to emergencies, reacts calmly, has knowledge of the professional nursing theory and practice to evaluate care

Qualifications include:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree required, Masters preferred.
• Valid Maryland RN license required
• 5 years' current RN experience in department-specific area, with progressive leadership experience preferred
• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS certification required
• 3 years of current ICU experience or related acute care experience required, Supervisory experience preferred. Certification in Leadership with 1 year of eligibility. Participation on Professional Organizations.
Strong critical and strategic thinking, analytical and planning skills
Demonstrates firm knowledge of budget and expenses, and the ability to manage resources within the unit budget. Understanding of the impact of operational decisions
•Able to read charts, labels, documentation, policies and procedures
