Dewberry is currently seeking a Communications Intern to join the corporate communications team in Fairfax, VA for Summer 2022.

The communications intern works in conjunction with the corporate communications department to meet the communications and pre-positioning goals of the organization. The intern requires a range of practical skills because of the varied requests anticipated with individual deadlines. Projects performed can vary day-to-day. Flexibility, organization, attention to detail, and excellent time management are expected.

Responsibilities

  • Assist corporate communications in writing content for press releases, and advertisements. Ensure approved content is added or updated in job and employee records.
  • Prepare marketing materials for conferences/events, including e-marketing and social media; assist with promotion of speaking engagements.
  • Assist in maintaining corporate website, intranet, and digital asset management system.
  • Support communications functions, including announcements and brochures.
  • Assist in maintaining media hits and client relationship management databases.


Required Skills & Required Experience

Education:
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in communications, English, journalism, or equivalent degree.

Experience:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; knowledge of English grammar critical and AP Style, a plus.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, a plus.
  • Experience with typical content management systems, a plus.

Preferred Characteristics:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Self-starter; enjoys and is able to work under minimal supervision, yet collaboratively with multiple disciplines and offices.
  • Able to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent quality control.
