Duties

As the IT Specialist (SysAdmin) in this position, you will:
  • Provide and coordinate management of communications and computing platforms, including Network Services, Desktop Support and Data Center Management to help achieve operating mission, and deliver messaging services to users.
  • Plan, and coordinate installation, tests, operation, troubleshoots, and maintenance of hardware and software systems related to Microsoft Office 365.
  • Plan and schedule the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems, and applications related to Microsoft Office 365.
  • Review, analyze, and plan of systems projects, and conversions to implement the strategic architecture for Infrastructure Management as it relates to messaging.
  • Maintain close liaison with other offices, including those within the organization, to develop helpful professional relationships.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. If qualifying based on education, a copy of your unofficial transcripts must be provided with your application.

You must have at least one full year of IT related specialized experience that demonstrates each of the following competencies: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. This must include activities such as: (1) evaluating plans or proposals for Agency Information Technology (IT) and Data Processing projects as they relate to Microsoft Office 365; (2) managing the operations of messaging systems to ensure availability, functionality, and efficiency for users; (3) coordinating with others on providing detection and resolution of email and Microsoft Office 365 issues; (4) conducting messaging related IT strategic planning and project management activities. This experience must be comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors).

Problem Solving-Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Project Management-Applies principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, monitoring, evaluating, and managing projects and resources, including technical performance.

Systems Management-Responsible for the operations of messaging systems, ensuring availability, functionality, integrity, and efficiency for users, and for the installation of system changes packaged and other software or hardware upgrades.

Part-time or unpaid experience: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
