Duties

  • You will function as a Child and Adolescence Clinical Psychologist.
  • You will evaluate, diagnose and treat the full range of pediatric and adolescent patients with disorders as describe in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5).
  • You will assess and provide crisis intervention for children, adolescents, and family members.
  • You will make behavioral health diagnoses as appropriate.
  • You will develop, implement, and evaluate professional development activities.
  • You will evaluate treatment progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You must possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Up-to-date immunizations/vaccinations and a seasonal influenza required.
  • You must receive a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) fingerprint check and State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) checks.
  • You will be required to meet any applicable credentialing or privileging requirements prior to appointment.


Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: evaluating, diagnosing and assessing a variety of patients with mental health disorders; applying psychological theories, principles to explain or justify psychological diagnoses, conclusions, findings or treatment recommendations.

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS: This position has selective placement factors that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factors are:
  • Possession of Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Possession of a permanent, full and unrestricted clinical psychologist license issued by a state, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • Completion of an Accredited Clinical Internship. This may be satisfied by one of the following: A) completion of 1-year American Psychological Association (APA) accredited clinical internship; B) completion of 1-year clinical internship NOT American Psychological Association (APA) accredited, but have completed an APA-accredited postdoctoral residency or fellowship or have attained board certification by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP); or C) have been a Clinical Psychologist commissioned/employed in the Navy prior to March 27, 2015 who has completed 1-year clinical internship training program NOT American Psychological Association (APA) accredited.
  • Completion of a 1 year postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric psychology or the equivalent in specialized training and supervised practice.
  • Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

    Education

    Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
    • Applicants must possess a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.

    This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
