Deadline to apply: November 23, 2021The Henry L. Stimson Center (Stimson) seeks a dynamic and highly motivated individual to join our team as a full-time HR & Administrative Assistant. Reporting to the Director of HR & Administration, the Assistant is an integral member of the operations team with a focus on supporting the effective and efficient operations of the Center.This position is ideal for an impeccably organized, detail-oriented individual with exceptional interpersonal, problem-solving, and verbal and written communication skills. The ideal candidate will have a high level of discretion in working with highly confidential information. Our innovative ideas change the world.The Assistant is responsible for two main areas of work: (1) supporting all HR functions and (2) providing general and often varied administrative and event support.ResponsibilitiesAssists with staff recruitment, selection, background checks, immigration matters, and hiring; Conducts or assists with new employee onboarding;Conducts or assists with employee terminations;Assists with all benefits administration: enrollment, offboarding, open enrollment, general administration, audits, vendor relations, and reporting;Assists with payroll preparation and related tasks;Prepares and processes HR paperwork and resolves employees questions;Documents policies, processes, and best practices;Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation;Maintains the human resource information system (HRIS);Manages the internship training program;Coordinates performance reviews;Coordinates data collection, reporting, and analysis;Assists with process improvement efforts focused on the development and implementation of more efficient policies, processes, systems, and technology;Fosters positive employee relations;Assists with planning and execution of special events such as open enrollment, organization-wide meetings, trainings, community-building, and other events;Works collaboratively with the Office Manager on various administrative and IT tasks and projects;Fills in for the Office Manager when they are on breaks and/or leave;Provide support to the Executive Office on as needed basis; andProvide support for other projects and duties as required.Skills & AbilitiesRequired:Customer service-focused mindset, with excellent oral and written communication skills;Familiarity with and/or interest in HR concepts and employment laws;Top-notch organizational skills: there's a lot to keep track of and nothing can fall through the cracks;Professionalism, discretion, and strict commitment to confidentiality;Ability to alternate between independent and teamwork with ease;Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications; andProficient in Microsoft Office Suite;Education & Work ExperienceRequired:Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant life and/or work experience and1-2 years administrative support experience requiredPreferred:Prior HR experience; andFamiliarity with the nonprofit sector.Application RequirementsSubmit a cover letter and resume in a single PDF document.
