Overview The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), a membership organization dedicated to the advancement of women's health care in Washington, DC, is currently seeking a Federal Affairs Manager. The Federal Affairs Manager is responsible for the advancement of ACOG's women's health policy priorities and advocate for obstetrician-gynecologists and their patients by influencing, advising, and consulting with Members of Congress and their staff, federal agencies, medical societies, and other health organizations. Cover Letter Required. As a result of COVID-19, ACOG employees are working in a temporary remote capacity. This is temporary, and normal business hours and in-office duties will return to normal once deemed it is safe to return into the office. Employees are expected to return to ACOG's National office located at 409 12 th , Southwest Washington DC, 20024. Responsibilities Key Duties and Responsibilities. Works collaboratively with the Government Affairs team to develop lobbying priorities, strategies, and activities on Capitol Hill and develops legislative and other advocacy materials for distribution to Congress and the Administration. Acts as liaison between ACOG and the federal government by lobbying and educating Members of Congress and federal agency officials on women's health care issues; building and maintaining strong relationships with legislators and regulators; and managing and growing a portfolio of key issues specific to ACOG policies and positions. Analyzes proposed legislative actions, providing strategic guidance on potential impact and developing appropriate response. Drafts legislation, testimony, legislative support letters, regulatory comment letters, action alerts, talking points, memos, advisory committee nomination letters, fact sheets, and other materials as necessary. Stays abreast of women's health care issues in the interest of ACOG. Works closely with other relevant ACOG Departments and Divisions including Practice, Health Policy, Marketing and Communications, Strategies for Health Equity, and Membership and Engagement to analyze and respond to legislative and regulatory activities. Attends fundraisers and assists in Political Action Committee giving strategy. Regularly plans, executes, and attends congressional briefings; organizes and attends internal and external meetings with key federal and coalition partners and stakeholders; and attends congressional hearings. Represents ACOG and the Government Affairs department in several national coalitions, including the opportunity for leadership positions. Reviews periodicals, the Federal Register, congressional committee activities, Administration activities, grant opportunities, advisory committee opportunities, and other items of relevance daily. Organizes and manages sessions and prepares materials for the Congressional Leadership Conference, Government Affairs Committee Meetings, and Ob-Gyn PAC Governing Committee Meetings. Works with the ACOG Government Affairs team to develop grassroots and grasstops initiatives to advance legislative priorities. Writes legislative listserv articles. Perform other duties as assigned.
