BACKGROUND:Eyewitness Surveillance is a rapidly growing video surveillance company headquartered in Hanover, MD. As part of Eyewitness's national expansion, Eyewitness is hiring a Field Service Technician.The Field Service Technician will report to the Director of Operations and will participate as part of a team to drive the success of the region by working cross-functionally with customer support, internal and external IT groups, customers, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects and initiatives and maintain system uptime.BASIC FUNCTION:The core responsibility of the Field Service Technician is:Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electronic systems and peripherals (Video, Intrusion, Access Control) at customer locations throughout the regionSuccess for the Field Service Technician role is measured by:Meeting customer needs and addressing customer service issues promptlyProactively communicating with customers and team membersPrioritizing service demands and project deadlines effectivelyA positive and collaborative styleSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:The Field Service Technician may be required to direct, influence, and track the activities and tasks of other peer-level or less senior Eyewitness technicians and work in association with central support teammates to address issues across the region.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Perform preventative installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic systems and peripherals (Video, Intrusion, Access Control) to effectively bring projects in on time and on budget and/or to clear services requests in a timely manner.Ensure all service, program, and project documentation is completed accurately and on timeMeet project deadlines for all assigned projects within the regionEstablish near 100% up-time performance for hardware within the regionReduce time-to-resolution of assigned service callsProactively complete unscheduled preventative maintenance on assigned sites within the regionWork to continuously improve service and installation processes, methods, templates, etc.Comply with and support all corporate and departmental policies and proceduresMaintain accurate inventory and document field activitiesQUALIFICATIONS:High School Diploma or GED required. Additional formal training and certifications in related fields is a strong plusTwo years of experience in the execution of large, complex electronic systems and peripherals (Video, Intrusion, Access Control) in a commercial and industrial setting and/orTwo years of experience in servicing large, complex electronic systems and peripherals (Video, Intrusion, Access Control) in a commercial and industrial settingWorking knowledge of IP and analog cameras (Hikvision, UDP, Axis, ACTi, Samsung)Working knowledge of Video Management Systems and software (Exacq, Avigilon, Geovision, Luxriot)Working knowledge of the use and applications of Access Control Servers, Video Servers, DVRs, NVRsWorking knowledge of audio systems and amplifiersWorking knowledge of electronic and digital test equipment such as multi-meters and digital cable analyzersProficient in installing and terminating of low voltage cabling as necessaryBasic understanding of Network concepts and architectures; Experience with TCP/IP and wireless networkingExtensive knowledge of DOS (telnet, tracert, ping, Ipconfig) and WindowsAbility to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics, and operational/product manualsAbility to work overtime, alternate shifts, evenings, weekends, holidays and be on call to meet customer requirementsMust be able to obtain and maintain all licenses required by national, state, and local codesCOMPUTER SKILLS:To perform this job successfully, an individual should have Intermediate to Advanced level proficiency for Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and email, and be proficient on various Video Management Software programs. Must be in good health and able to work in both office and outside environments. Ability to lift equipment and tools up to 50lbs.
