Reporting to the Public Affairs Manager, ensure ABB's views are communicated to federal and state policymakers, engage with broader policymaking community, and communicate impacts of government actions to internal stakeholders. Lead public affairs and thought leadership initiatives, campaigns, and events to build ABB's brand recognition and industry leadership.Your responsibilitiesEnhances ABB's brand in the policymaking community as a leading global technology company that energizes the transformation of society and industry to achieve a more productive, sustainable futureEstablishes and maintains relationships with stakeholders in US Congress, Executive agencies, trade and industry associations, state and local governments, and non-governmental organizations, outside consultants, Washington offices of peer companies, and moreServes as a primary ABB representative, educator, and lobbyist on policies of importance to ABB at federal, state, and local governments, as well as trade associations and NGOsDevelops and executes federal legislative, regulatory, and executive advocacy strategies to advance and defend ABB market position and prioritiesUtilizes a variety of tools to achieve company goals including, but not limited to, personal education and advocacy, white papers; op-eds and articles; social media campaigns; trade shows, conferences or exhibits; thought leadership forums; and ABB-sponsored eventsManages ABB's official comments on certain regulatory matters and public comment opportunitiesActively monitors, investigates, researches, and analyzes policy developments, regulatory actions, and political environment at the federal, state, and local government levels.Provides advice and counsel to internal ABB stakeholders about policy, regulatory, and political developments that may impact ABB's businesses, markets, and/or customersCommunicates government activities through regular written, verbal, and virtual updates to internal ABB stakeholdersYour backgroundBachelor's in Political Science, Communications, Engineering, or Business-related field and 10 plus years of government related experience and experience with energy, infrastructure, cybersecurity, manufacturing, international trade or technology sector advocacy requiredAdvanced degree - JD, MBA, Masters in relevant field strongly preferred5 years of experience on Capitol Hill and/or federal executive agency preferred5 years of experience lobbying with corporation, trade association or outside policy consulting organization preferredStrong understanding of corporate communication and reputation managementExcellent communication and facilitation skills that drive action among internal and external stakeholdersStrategic thinking and planning skills to develop short- and long-range integrated strategiesStrong business acumenConsensus-builder with ability to bring people together to achieve a goalProblem-solver with demonstrated experience managing projects within complex organizationsExtensive knowledge of federal legislative and regulatory processesExperience in government complianceMotivated self-starter able to work independentlyExperience in coalition lobbyingDemonstrated research, analytical, and writing skillsAbility to work well with all levels of government, the ABB organization, trade associations and public interest groupsAbility to represent ABB's positions with authority and persuasionAbility to adapt to changing subject advocacyProficiency in social mediaKeen political instinctsHighest ethical standardsProficiency in Spanish and/or German a plus.Travel Expectations: 10%Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the USBenefitsRetirement planLife insuranceDisability insuranceMedical insuranceWellbeing programMore about usGlobal Business Services (GBS) is ABB's shared services organization which delivers operational and expert services in Finance, Human Resources, Information Systems, Legal, Global Travel Services and external Customer Contact Centers.
