Join us to find out why.The position:AMEWAS, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and talented Sheet Metal Technician to support the Aircraft Prototype System Division. This position is on an SCA contract which is subject to the terms and conditions of the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA).This position is classified as AMEWAS labor category Technician.About the location: California, Maryland or Patuxent River, Maryland #1 City Hiring the Most High-Tech Workers (California-Lexington Park, Maryland). To learn more about our surrounding location, please visit: Visit St. Mary's.This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.A typical day as a Sheet Metal Technician may include:Using prior experience performing fabrication and installations of aircraft sheet metal modifications to apply quality control and quality assurance measurement and inspection techniques and principles to ensure conformance of aircraft modifications to aircraft sheet metal modification designs and standards.Applying Comprehensive and thorough knowledge of the full range of principles, related to one or more quality assurance functional programs, and considerable skill in applying this knowledge to the planning and accomplishment of a variety of difficult and complex work assignments.Applying experience in quality assurance/control methods, principles, and practices, including statistical analysis and sampling techniques.Ability to operate handheld inspection tools (such as calipers, verniers, micrometers, gage pins, thread gages, height gages, bore gages, etc.)Ability to work with complex measuring equipment (such as a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), Optical Comparator, Scanner etc.)Interpreting and applying mechanical and aircraft structural documentation to include CAD drawings and CAD files.Will apply comprehensive and thorough knowledge of commercial and military specifications, procedures, and standards that govern mechanical modifications. In particular, modifications performed on-air vehicles such as installing first article prototyping systems.Must-haves:High school diploma or equivalent.Minimum of 10 years' experience performing the stated functions.Extensive knowledge of related engineering and scientific disciplines sufficient to interactively ensure the integrity of the design effort with the intended platform.Candidates must be able to climb or crawl down into spaces where technicians have performed aircraft modification work that needs to be inspected. Therefore, this physical capability -to access areas on aircraft where work-requiring inspection has occurred, whether off the ground/aircraft desk, or in spaces under aircraft that are near the ground, or that are under aircraft decks/floors, is an inherent need for candidates to be able to perform.Ability to travel up to 25%.The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearance.COVID-19 Vaccination RequirementAMEWAS, Inc. requires employees to provide proof of being fully vaccinated from COVID-19 or submission and approval of a request for accommodation prior to your first day.Skills crucial to success at AMEWAS, Inc.:Customer-focused attitude with a high level of professionalism and discretion. In some occasions, the employee may be required to report to offices or buildings near the worksite. In rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
