Job Description:Role Summary/Purpose:This role resides within the Credit and Capital Management function within the Stress Testing team and will drive the re-development of the Stress Testing forecast process. This individual will be tasked with improving and automating (in Python) the business content of the PPNR model, as well as developing the framework for incorporating inputs from new upstream input sources. The goal is to design and build a dynamic and efficient process that will allow for improved scenario analysis and reporting.This role will also manage the execution, analysis and reporting of the Synchrony's stress testing forecasts, and provide stress testing related financial analysis for the Capital Management Committee and the Risk Committee reviews.This position can be remote, where you have the option to work from home. On occasion we may request for you to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events. We're proud to offer you choice and flexibility.Essential Responsibilities:Drive transition (in Python) of current excel based stress test forecasting process:Improve and automate the modeling for forecasting of pre-provision net revenue. Evaluate opportunities to leverage newly available drivers from upstream processes to improve forecasting approach.Develop framework to aggregate stress testing inputs from new upstream sources. Collaborate with partners to identify opportunities to automate input submissions.Partner with downstream users of stress test results to define and automate reporting.Responsible for the execution of the PPNR model for the Capital Plan stress test as well as any additional business determined sensitivities.Work with the model owner to monitor the performance of the model.Provide the financial analysis detailing assumptions, rationale, and projections to various governance committees (Capital Management Committee, Risk Committee, etc.).Responsible for providing narrative (written) support for the assumptions, methodologies, rationale, and variance explanations for both SYF and SYB regulatory submissions.Provide support for inquiries from the regulators, internal audit, independent review team.Provide other analysis and support to teams that use the results of the stress testing, eg, pricing, credit risk oversight, treasury, the recovery and resolution planning team.Perform other duties and/or special projects as assignedQualifications/Requirements:Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field of study (eg, Accounting, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics) and 4+ years of experience in Finance, Accounting, Credit, Risk, Consumer Lending, and/or other relevant professional experience; or in lieu of a degree, 8+ years of experience in Credit, Finance, Accounting, Risk, Consumer Lending, and/or other relevant professional experience.2+ years of experience using EXCEL at an intermediate level, with demonstrable familiarity with pivot-tables, worksheet formulas, macros, array formulas, and other techniques.2+ years of experience using Python to execute models, perform statistical analysis, and/or query databases to manage large amounts of data.Desired Characteristics:Financial Services Industry experienceExperience with stress testing processExperience with Hyperion EssbaseKnowledge of model development, model validation policies and proceduresDemonstrated experience in analyzing business data with the ability to distill large amount of information down to the critical areas of focusStrong written and verbal communication skills, to independently present explanations of complex subjects to senior management and partner with teams throughout the companyKnowledge of external environment, industry / competitor profiles, and typical macro-economic indicators and correlationsFamiliarity with Federal Reserve and OCC regulatory reporting requirementsMust be able to work to tight deadlines with multiple prioritiesEligibility Requirements:You must be 18 years or olderYou must have a high school diploma or equivalentYou must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding processYou must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.
