Administrative Assistant - Department of Cyber Security EngineeringThe George Mason University Department of Cyber Security Engineering (CYSE), within the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC), seeks a proactive, organized and self-reliant professional for an Administrative Assistant position. Responsibilities:The CYSE Administrative Assistant is a key person in the management of the office and administrative related functions of the department. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the items below. Assist the chair with special projects and tasks;Serve as main point of contact for CYSE department;Coordinate and schedule departmental meetings;Schedule departmental visitors, seminars, interviews, etc.;Acts as the primary contact with other departments and external agencies;Process student written and oral requests requiring immediate decisions by the chair; Arrange and process travel for CYSE faculty;Manage access and space allocation;Manage conference room access and scheduling;Purchase card holder for the department; Coordinate and oversee departmental events to include all arrangements;Work with department faculty to support event programs such as Senior Capstone Day, recruitment, and outreach activities;Coordinate, organize and participate in the department hiring process, arrange candidate travel, interview seminars and reimbursements;Conduct orientation for teaching assistants; Work with Chair to develop publication information needed for public dissemination and promotion of the program;Maintain department's social media presence; andUpdate department's SiteMasonry hosted website to reflect programmatic and personnel changes. Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience;Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal);Excellent customer service skills; Prior experience working effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community;Experience with accounting/finance, and general HR functions;Proficient computer skills and demonstrated experience with office software (particularly Microsoft Word and Excel) and email applications;Prior experience effectively identifying and addressing problems;Prior experience planning and coordinating projects efficiently and effectively;Experience with Microsoft Office, Internet, E-Mail, Zoom, and the ability to use and maintaining databases; andPrior experience managing multiple tasks simultaneously, assessing problems and recommending solutions or solution procedures, initiating policies and procedures which are beneficial to the department, and coordinating and communicating with other offices within a university setting. Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree;Knowledge of university procedures, policies and regulations;Ability to work within university information systems; andDemonstrated relevant experience with office and financial management.
