The Workforce Initiatives Manager will help develop and implement high-impact workforce strategy programs and initiatives that will increase access and accelerate economic opportunity, mobility, and security for low-income 50+ workers. Discovers, designs, and delivers new and enhanced workforce solutions, programs, and partnerships to assist older workers gain a family-sustaining wage job and helps employers build a highly qualified and skilled multigenerational workforce. Provides daily operational and strategic support for the Workforce Programs' expansion working with Vice President, Workforce Programs. Collaborates with Workforce Programs and AARP Foundation colleagues (including Development, Communications, Technology, Litigation,and Innovation) to identify and integrate solutions to the biggest challenges facing the low income 50+ and their families as it relates to employment and income generation.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements solutions
  • Executes and evaluates existing programs to identify improvements and to measure outcomes
  • Collaborates with program leadership in the development of long-term goals and strategic plans to ensure continued successful growth and scalability
  • Uses existing data to identify program enhancements and identifies needed data and research to maximize insight and experience management
  • Managing enterprise assets and budget
  • Project and process management
  • Partner and stakeholder engagement (including volunteers, participants and program partners)
  • Reporting on program activities/outcomes

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Business, Social Science, Technology, or a related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in workforce development, employment-related social enterprise, human resources, economic development, or employer or industry engagement -- with a focus on employment outcomes strongly preferred
  • Evidence of designing and implementing new workforce programs, initiatives, and cutting-edge solutions strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a complex array of projects, operational and strategic goals, and relationships with internal and external partners
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of business models, both in the for-profit and non-profit sectors. Ability to conceptualize the potential application of these models in the context of program development and implementation
  • Well-networked in the workforce, business, and/or social entrepreneurship related to employment and workforce education fields, with an ability to engage these resources to assist AARP Foundation in its mission
  • Proven ability to develop and forge new strategic partnerships with workforce organizations, employers, economic development agencies, learning organizations and providers, technology companies, and other key stakeholders
  • This is an in-office position and the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise level is required
  • Demonstrated verbal communication skills required

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
