Duties

As a Financial and Loan Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
  • Develop and recommend Small Business Administration (SBA) wide polices, and procedures which govern the SBA 504 loan program.
  • Acts as a Small Business Administration (SBA) representative at interagency meetings to promote and explain SBA finance programs.
  • Apply expert knowledge of loan underwriting and loan servicing practices.
  • Conduct evaluations of lender participation and make recommendation for improvements to regulations, policies, program design, and delivery.
  • Plan, develop, and implement strategies for outreach activities in connection with the promotion and continued development of the agency's 504 lender participants.
  • Develop and recommend the issuance of standard operating procedures, policy statements, and interim regulations governing SBA loan programs.
  • Prepare and deliver speeches before government and public groups interested in the agency's loan programs including state and national representatives.

The purpose of this position is to serve as the policy expert on the Certified Development Company (CDC)/504 loan program and is responsible for developing loan policies and procedures for performance monitoring systems for the agency's 504 loan program.

  • Due to COVID-19, the SBA is currently in an expanded telework status. If selected, you may be permitted to temporarily telework from a location outside the official duty station described in this announcement.

Qualifications

For the GS-13: You must have at least one-year (12-months) of specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sector) in lending policy and commercial lending. Examples of experience include:

1. Conducting commercial loan origination to include loan review and loan servicing.
2. Assisting in the development of nationwide policies for commercial loan programs or equivalent commercial lending practices.
3. Reviewing proposed or existing legislation/regulations for a commercial loan program.
4. Conducting loan program reviews to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
Your resume must fully support this experience.
