Duties

About the Position: As the Army's primary integrator of C5ISR technologies and systems, the U.S. Army Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) Center conducts Research and Development, or R&D, across a wide variety of capability areas that support all of the Army's Modernization priorities. These include cyberspace operations, electronic warfare, intelligence, data analysis and fusion, tactical network design, wireless communications, radar, sensors, electro-optics, mission command applications, autonomy and machine learning, power and energy, modeling and simulation, counter-IED, minefield detection/defeat and assured positioning, navigation and timing. It is through employment of a dedicated and superior workforce, world class facilities and global partnerships that the C5ISR Center delivers needed capabilities to our Warfighters.

Duties:
  • Serve as an Engineering Technician and platform Operator for sensor systems integrated with Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).
  • Ability to maintain UAS in accordance with factory instruction, technical manuals, service bulletins, and notifications from Army aviation resources.
  • Support all aspects of the UAS program to include following policies and procedures, performing training, maintaining records, and supporting all aspects of UAS systems integration, maintenance, and flight operations with US Army Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.
  • Knowledge of the UAS operations and safety in accordance with Army regulations.
  • Experience in the operation of UAS that are rotary, fixed wing, and/or multi-rotor configurations.
  • Knowledge and experience include but not limited to sensor knowledge, electro optic infrared thermal, and laser payloads to include pointers, designators, and spotters.
  • Experience in planning, coordinating, developing target decks, executing flight operations, and performing postop briefings.
  • Knowledge is required in Army Aviation Risk Assessment (Flight, Weather, and Operator) and site surveys.
  • Knowledge of Army and civil aviation regulations and policies relevant to air operations of unmanned vehicles

In order to qualify, you must meet the Specialized Experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade or band is required. It is defined as one year of specialized experience equivalent to the DE-02 pay band (GS-05/01 - GS 11/10 level) in the Federal Service which includes experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Ability to conduct experimental analysis in the development of systems and components.
  • Ability to design, develop, and fabricate electro-optical systems and components
  • Knowledge of air/ground applications and control systems
  • Skills in performing experimental evaluations in varying test environments
  • Knowledge in digital/analog circuit design and testing
  • Knowledge of design test procedures, test equipment, and hardware fabrication
  • Knowledge of system design and manufacturing process applications
