Duties

  • Works under the general direction of the Chief Information Officer/G6 (CIO/G6) Office.
  • Coordinates, presents, defends and negotiates programs, policies and controversial issues of significant impact on support organization information systems.
  • Oversees and provides guidance in the preparation of supporting data needed for the acquisition of IM-related hardware, software, communications and services to insure that the best, most cost effective support to CECOM users.
  • Participates in CECOM-wide Information Management planning and provides systems support as may be directed by higher headquarters.
  • Considers innovations and new approaches or applications and makes recommendations as to the feasibility/compatibility with existing systems, facilities, equipment, etc., and the probably long-term effects.
  • Directly manages and supervises several multi-disciplinary teams of specialists performing Information Management/Information Technology functions.
  • Lead new technology initiatives and programmatic efforts to modernize how the command utilizes new and emerging technology to perform its sustainment missions.
  • Identify emerging issues as they relate to information technology and information management focusing on proactively identifying potential areas of concern for early mitigation.

  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 25 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • A one year probation to assess your ability to perform Supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a two year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Executing resource management planning, programming, budgeting execution processes, and oversight of service contracts; 2) Providing policy guidance for Information Management functions; AND 3) Providing Desktop support to include software installation, peripheral device setup, desktop hardware, support desk functions and voice requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-03/GS-13).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
