Duties

The duties and responsibilities for a GS-2210-13 IT Specialist (SYSANALYSIS) generally include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Planning and coordinating agency-wide implementation of process improvement methods and concepts to improve the quality of software products.
  • Providing expert evaluation of the requirements, analyzes alternatives, and recommends technical solutions relating to the complete life cycle for information systems and information systems components.
  • Identifying areas of inadequate data availability and recommends methods and procedures
    for data collection and aggregation. Participates in information requirements analysis to assess the need for specific data reporting procedures.
  • Analyzing, designing, developing, customizing, and implementing a wide range of complex hardware and software to support large-scale LAN/WAN systems including protocols, simple mail transfer protocol (SMTP) management systems, wireless controllers, switches, routers, firewalls, and other network devices that support extensive operations.
  • Writing and modifying PowerShell scripts to automate re-occurring tasks and processes. Creates and modifies Active Directory (AD) Group Policy Objects (GPO) to apply enterprise wide settings and security hardening against DISA Security Technical Information Guides (STIG).
  • Identifying and controlling all hardware and software configurations, and developing technical standards and procedures for network development, implementation, and management.
  • Providing expert analysis and advice on complex program related information technology (IT) issues or problems where new analytical techniques must be developed to identify and evaluate findings.
  • Serving as a recognized technical authority on the development and/or interpretation of DOJ
    automation and contracting guidelines, policies, legislation, and regulations.

  • You may be required to complete a one-year probationary period.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access depending on organizational assignment / duty location.


Qualifications

To qualify for the position of IT Specialist (SYS ANALYSIS), GS-2210-13, you must possess the required specialized experience listed below.

To qualify for the GS-13 IT Specialist (SYSANALYSIS), you must demonstrate that you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the federal service performing such duties as: performing data analysis in order to help understand the concerns of an organization; analyzing, designing, developing, customizing, and implementing a wide range of complex hardware and software to support large-scale LAN/WAN and server systems; implementing the installation and testing of all software and hardware upgrades; participating in quick response teams responding to customer service problems resulting from catastrophic events; and conducting long-range planning and analysis of system needs.

If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please submit an applicable SF-50 to provide proof of meeting the time in grade requirement.
